Purpose of this role
We are offering a London based internship for highly talented and motivated students currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Finance, Actuarial Science or Economics, or new graduates with similar academic background. The successful candidate will be working closely with the ALM & Investment Risk teams supporting Market Risk and Investment Risk oversight.
The successful candidate will be supporting a dynamic range of life insurance ALM related topics such as duration risk management, credit spread risk management, investment risk oversight, illiquid asset risk oversight, private credit and alternative asset risk oversight.

Key Contribution Areas
  • Supports quantitative and qualitative risk analysis for alternatives and private equity investments
  • Supports monitoring of credit concentration for Group balance sheet and early alert of market risk threats of thematic sector reviews
  • Supports assessment and review of investment and hedging mandates to ensure investments remain within Group Risk policies, appetites, and regulatory Prudent Persons Principles
  • Produces management presentations and risk reports under the guidance of the team’s Director/Senior Director for the Group Board and Group Risk committees
  • Supports development of collateral report, derivatives counterparty report, liquidity risk report
Personal Capabilities Required
  • Excellent presentation skills, ability to translate analytical conclusion into presentable and impactful stakeholder reports and risk opinions
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, communication and organization skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
Functional or Technical Knowledge and Skill Required
  • Qualification in full or part in a quantitative discipline preferred (quantitative finance, mathematics, economics or similar fields)
  • Understanding of Insurance business and regulation as well as Financial Markets is a must
  • Proficiency in Excel and Power Point is a must. Knowledge of VBA is considered a plus. Additional familiarity with the mathematical methods used in market and credit risk modelling is a distinct advantage
  • Knowledge of the regulatory requirements is preferred
  • A Keen interest and/or knowledge in corporate credit, derivatives, insurance risk management is desired.
