Associate Underwriter (M&A Underwriter) – Salary £80,000 to £90,000 p/a
This is a great job for someone with specialist experience within an M&A function, who is excited to learn new things and be an integral part of our underwriting team working across a broad range of M&A transactions.
Responsibilities:
You will be identifying, assessing and quantifying deal risks from a legal, financial and commercial perspective. Instructing, collaborating with and assisting in the supervision of external legal counsel hired to advise Aviva on each transaction. You will also be assisting in maintaining our Delegated Underwriting Authority (DUA) accounts, whilst developing successful relationships with other M&A professionals. (e.g. insurance brokers, law firms, private equity funds and corporate clients)
Skills and experience we’re looking for:
- Experience of M&A within 1 or more of the following areas: Underwriting, Broking or Corporate Law with a reputable insurance/risk business.
- Ability to take a commercial, considered risk-based approach to underwriting transactional risks.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills (including experience of technical negotiating and drafting).
- Organised, reliable and able to work in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines and deal-time pressures.
- Prior experience of dealing with DUA accounts is desirable although not essential.
