Legal Expenses Underwriter

We are now looking for a Legal Expenses Underwriter to join our team, ideally based within of reach of our offices in either Nottingham or London.

The role is to support the underwriting function within AEL and to underwrite legal expenses insurance business as part of the Legal Expenses underwriting team.

Initially the emphasis will be on underwriting after the event personal injury legal insurance business but the role is likely to develop to encompass wider legal expenses underwriting (which may include commercial after the event legal expenses insurance and before the event legal expenses insurance and work on schemes)

To be successful in this role, you will need to have a good and current working knowledge of personal injury litigation. As you will have significant interaction with a broad range of stakeholders, the ability to communicate effectively will be key to your success, along with the ability to work comfortably with databases and IT systems. The role will also involve working with conduct, compliance and on financial reporting.

Day to day you will;

• Support the underwriting function within AmTrust, to underwrite legal expenses insurance business.

• Work with an online system where policies fitting criteria are incepted by approved solicitors.

• Consider and underwrite one off bespoke PI policies.
